Fall Fun
We’ve had a fun fall season with Jonah over the last few weeks. Last weekend while Chris was out of town, Jonah, our friend Dena and I went to visit Audrey & Fred in Wisconsin. We hung out at their place and got attacked by ladybugs on Saturday while we watched their dogs play in the pond. Jonah had a good time running around at Audrey’s and playing on the dog bed and with all the dog toys.
On Sunday we all went apple picking. I’m not sure if we were late in the season or what, but it’s the same place we’ve gone for the past few years and the apples weren’t that great this year. We were going to pick two baskets worth but only ended up filling one. Only the golden delicious were passable. So far we’ve made an apple crisp with some of them and it was good.
This past weekend, we met up with Chris’s family at the pumpkin farm. Jonah dressed up in his halloween costume because, let’s face it, he’s 1, it’s not like he’s going trick-or-treating so what else are we going to do with him in his costume?! It’s a clever costume though so we bought it. It’s really just a dalmation vest with the top of the hood as the dog’s head. I liked it because it’s not very involved; no mask to go over his face, no legs or feet for him to trip on. I also figured we could dress it up or down depending on the weather. As it was, with black pants and a while long-sleeved shirt on, it was perfect for the weather Saturday.
Jonah didn’t care much for the pumpkins but he liked to watch the kids climbing on all the structures they had and he liked to run in the open grass. He climbed a bit too, but there were tons of kids and he’s still to unsure so doesn’t push his way in. In fact, I had to elbow this little kid out of the way as I helped Jonah go up a ladder or the bigger kid would have totally pushed Jonah off. No idea where that kid’s parents were; there was a lot of that going on that day. He also got a kick out of the bumpy hay ride we went on and liked the kettle corn.
