Economy Hits Home
It looks like everything they’ve been saying in the news for the past few months has finally hit our household. I was laid-off this Monday with a joke of a severance package after 4 years of working there.
They weren’t trying to be malicious or take advantage but I’m disappointed. I liked being the Director of Marketing at Burwood Group. I started there by myself to begin their marketing program. It has been a lot of hands-on work bur I was able to launch a new website months after starting and put programs in place that are still running today. At one point I managed a full-time marketing manager, marketing coordinator, graphic designer and two interns. I learned a lot there and was always able to grow into added responsibilities for my role.
This past January, partnership responsibilties were added and though it was a challenge I had some good ideas to put in place there. As early as last month I flew out to Florida twice for training and client meetings. The Cisco Velocity event I went to for training gave me a lot of new ideas for how to use social media and networking for business benefits. Hopefully I’ll be able to use those ideas where ever I land next. If you have ideas for me on jobs or can let folks in your network know that I’m looking that would be great.
