Buckle Up

Published by Julie under Uncategorized

Jonah has had his spare car seat in the house for the past week.  He’s very into working the buckles.  So far he can get the top buckle latched and sometimes the bottom ones but can NOT get himself out (which I am fine with).  The other day he belted himself in then went for a drive.  Check out the photos.

Jonah loves shoes.  He likes his but he especially likes ones that belong to other people.  Here’s a photo of him walking in Papa’s shoes. Jonah in Papa’s Shoes

Feeding Jake

Published by Julie under Games

Jonah really is a sweet kid.  We’ve had a few babies come to visit over the last couple months and he seems to love it.  He wants to hug them and bring them toys.  We let them sit in Jonah’s high chair and he sits in a different one we have.  In the days after they leave he’s always talking about how the baby sat here (pointing to his chair).

After one of those visits he was playing with his dress-up doll, “Jake” and decided that he was hungry.  Jonah put Jake in his high chair then ran to his kitchen to get a little cup and a spoon to feed Jake.  It was really cute.  I think this kid has a good imagination.

Mother’s Day

Published by Julie under Uncategorized

We had a really fun weekend with Jonah.  On Saturday we visited my friend Jim, a friend from my Lake Forest days, and his wife and son.  They had a new house they bought in Brookfield, so we checked out their new home and spent the morning at Brookfield Zoo.  Jonah and his new friend Benjamin (they’d met before, but as babies) enjoyed seeing all the animals, especially the monkeys and elephants.  The day was sort of overcast, but that helped with the crowds, as there weren’t too many people out.

On Sunday we were in Morton Grove where Jonah got to see his Nana and Papa, Grandma and Grandpa, Aunts Heather and Kelley and Great-Grandma Andersen.  While it was technically Mother’s Day, Jonah seems to steal the show wherever we go, and this was no exception.  He dazzled everyone in the backyard with his newfound love of baseball, hitting balls in the yard for about two hours straight.

Grandma and Grandpa Diehl were nice enough to buy him a bat which he promptly broke on the first swing, though it was still usable.  That kid is truly addicted to the game (not that I’m complaining).  He will ask for baseball on the TV and then get extremely upset if you turn it off.  He seems to lose interest in some shows, but I’ve seen him pay attention to a baseball game for almost an hour, as long as he also gets a chance to do some hitting and throwing himself.

We tried not to go too overboard with spending, as Julie is still on the prowl for a new job, but in the end, that didn’t matter.  It was so much fun to spend time with the family.  It is so much fun to watch Jonah interact with everyone and he is a source of endless pleasure for the whole family.

Tonight we ate some M-Day leftovers, which Jonah enjoyed, as you can see:
