New Tricks

Published by Julie at 2:15 pm under Elliott, Jonah

Funny how for the first kid you’re like, “Yeah! He’s doing XYZ early!  He’s so advanced, how cool is that?”  It’s a relief to a new parents, confirmation that your kid is smart enough and learning on schedule.  But now for the 2nd kid I find myself thinking, “Wait! Don’t learn how to do that yet!  I’m not ready!”

Elliott has been rolling over, both ways, from front-to-back and back-to-front, over the last couple days and I find myself thinking that he’s growing up too fast. As much as I’m anxious for him to sleep longer at night and be happy with his toys for a little longer I’m sad as he grows.  I think it’s because he’s my baby, and likely, my last.  I see what a big boy Jonah has become and I know Elliott will get there in no time.  This time I know not to push too much.  I want to hang onto this baby as long as I can.
