Elliott Waving

Published by Julie under Elliott, Video

As Elliott continues to get the hang of walking while holding on to something he’s now starting to try harder tasks.  Now he’ll purposely lower himself down on his butt then pull himself back up.  Or today he was dropping his toy and then bending down to pick it up with one hand, while still holding on with the other.  He’s standing in his bed before he starts to cry out for us to get him these days too.  He doesn’t seem interested in crawling but maybe that will chance.

Of course I couldn’t get any of those tricks on video but I did get him to wave at me.  He’s getting good at doing that for hello and bye-bye.

When he smiles maybe you can see his new top teeth.  All 4 decided to cut through at once!

Jonah’s First Bowling

Published by Julie under Holiday, Jonah, Video

Over the holidays we decided to take the boys bowling.  This new alley actually had a “mom & tot” time in the morning so we went, bowled a game then had lunch.  Well actually we played some indoor bocce ball first, or pretended to.  Jonah just liked to roll the balls down the court and run up and down.  He liked that much more than the bowling.

Here’s a short movie of Chris helping Jonah bowl.

Elliott’s New Milestones

Published by Julie under Elliott, Video

Elliott has hit quite a few new milestones lately.  First off, he’s finally started sleeping better. He may still get up at night but at least now he tends to do 6-7 hours at a time at night instead of just 4.  Last night he even slept from 8:30-5:30am then went back down until 7:00am.  For him, that’s really good.  And for me it’s wonderful.  We’ve been trying to put him down before he’s really asleep so hopefully he’s learning that he can fall asleep on his own.  That and I think the solid food is helping him feel more full.  It’s to a point that if we are siting at the table eating he thinks he should be too.  I had been getting away with 1 or 2 meals of food for him per day but this weekend I think we officially started him on solids 3 times a day.  Not an easy task when I have to get everyone up and dressed in the morning in time to get Jonah to school.  Thank goodness his school is so close.  We can leave the house and be there in about 2 minutes.

Ok, so Elliott is eating more and sleeping better, those are both new.  And he’s been pushing himself up on his arms and scooting backwards for a while but just this weekend he actually started commando crawling forward.  That was new!  I tried to catch it on film but once I got the camera he stopped performing.

I was really happy to see that forward movement because I was beginning to wonder if he’d crawl at all.  All the kid wants to do these days is stand.  I don’t think he can even get him self into a seated position but he can pull himself up to standing on the furniture.  Then once he’s up there he’s getting better at cruising from furniture to furniture. I am in NO hurry for this kid to walk but it seems he’s well on his way.  Take a look at the video.

We have other friends who’s kids talk early.  Elliott babbles but, like Jonah, I think he’s more intent on the physical development at this point.  We’ll see.  I am really hoping he learns to crawl first though and doesn’t just start walking at 9 months or something.  I’m also hoping the sleep habits are a continuing trend.  Right now it’s a bit to early to tell.

Jonah Reading to Elliott

Published by Julie under Elliott, Jonah, Video

Jonah is a good big brother.  When he’s in the room Elliott loves to watch him and Jonah likes to make him smile and laugh.  Here’s a quick video of Jonah reading Elliott a story.  He’d done it on his own a few times before we actually got it on camera so I guess he was done after this one.

New Video of Elliott Laughing

Published by Julie under Elliott, Video

This video was taken by our new nanny, Claudia on her phone.  Apparently Jonah’s toy Jessie doll was doing a funny dance this day.  He’s laughing AND has the hiccups.

Elliott’s First Giggle

Published by Julie under Elliott, Video

I remember Jonah being a happy smiling baby but it took me a long time to get him to laugh.  Those seemed to be few and far between.  As a 2nd kid, I think Elliott is faster to smile and he’s just started to giggle.  There’s a tickle spot under his chin that will get him going.

I’ve attached the video below. It’s not the best example because I think he was distracted by the camera. I’d had him going really good before we started to tape but this will give you an idea.  It’s a new skill so I’m sure he’ll just get better and better at it.

Is there anything better that hearing your kids giggle?

Boring Elliott Video

Published by Julie under Elliott, Video

Chris took this video a week or two ago.  Nothing much happens but I thought I’d post anyway.  His hair is crazier now, sticks up in the middle section.  Hopefully we’ll have some smiles to post soon.  They happen now but are unpredictable.

Jonah’s 3rd Birthday

Published by Julie under Jonah, Video

We held Jonah’s 3rd birthday party on June 6th at Chris’s parents house in the suburbs.  It was nice because we got to use their back yard and their next door neighbor’s yard while she was out of town.  The weather didn’t cooperate with us 100% but I think everyone had a good time.  Jonah was a bit over whelmed at some point and we found him playing alone in the living room behind the table.  I think he needed some down time.  That happens on days where he doesn’t nap or when there is too much going on.

Here’s a video of our celebration at home on his actual birthday.  I’ll attach photos of the party soon.

Easter 2010

Published by Julie under Holiday, Video

Jonah had a great time on Easter this year.  He woke up to go potty on his own and found his Easter basket on the dining room table.  He came into our room in the morning saying, “Mama, look!”  Then we took him out to the living room where the egg hunt was already set up.

Later that afternoon we went to Grandma & Grandpa’s house and it was so nice we were able to another egg hunt there outside.  Here’s a short video of him hunting for eggs in their back yard.

We colored Easter eggs too and Jonah LOVES hard boiled eggs.  I think he ate almost the whole dozen himself.  He even got good at cracking and peeling them on his own.  He doesn’t like the yolk though so Bianca’s gotten spoiled lately with that treat lately.

Mr. Fix It

Published by Julie under Video

Jonah loves his cars and trucks.  Big ones, little ones, you name it.  If it has wheels he’s happy.

A few months back I noticed a hole in one of our tires while Chris was out of town.  Jonah was with me when we went to the tire shop and had them put on the spare.  He loved seeing all the cars being worked on and hasn’t stopped fixing his cars and trucks since.  Now he points out any car with a spare on the back and tells us it’s in case they get a flat.

With the help of Nana & Papa, his new power tools and some regular tools, here’s a video of Jonah fixing his big yellow dump truck.
